A Long awaited Empties Post

My latest empties and a mini review on each...

In no particular order....

La Roche Posay Micellar Water
This was a free gift with a LRP Purchase. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of micellar waters. I don't feel like they clean my skin properly, I am sure it does, but I just prefer other forms of cleansers.
I won't be in any rush to purchase it, but it would definitely be great for someone who wants something quick and has sensitive skin.

Hylamide Hydra Density Mist

This was part of a set I bought in a sale over on Deciems website some time ago. I do enjoy using a mist after cleansing & toning and before my serums. This provides intense hydration and is lovely & soothing. This contains glucoronic acid which has a higher water retaining property than hyaluronic acid, happy days.  I would probably repurchase this but I have other mists already bought and others I want to try so it won't be any time soon.

Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Serum

You know at this stage that I have re-pu…

The difference between a Serum & an Oil

The lines of skincare can easily become blurred, especially when new products are constantly being developed.. Two products that often get confused and misused are serums and oils, so here is how to choose the best one for your skin and its needs.
What does it do? - A serum is a concentrated cocktail of actives housed within a water-based fluid that is lightweight and incredibly easy for the skin to absorb. This blend of active ingredients is designed to offer , for example with Pestle & Mortars Pure Hyaluronic Serum, intense hydration where it really counts – within the lower layers.

How does it do this? - Serums are able to penetrate down to the lower layers of the skin due to their small molecular size. This means that they sink in quickly, passing through the surface to the dermis where collagen production and skin correction can take place. Potent actives also tend to be water-soluble, so they can be delivered more effectively in a serum-like formulation than something he…

Nuxe Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm - Review

I had read numerous wonderful reviews on this NUXE Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm so I decided I’d give it a go. I am addicted to lip balms and it is so true, the more you use them, the more you feel the need to use them. I felt I needed something a little more nourishing than my usual Vaseline or Nivea lip balm. This best-sellinglip balmwith Honey and precious oils is highly concentrated in ingredientsthat help to nourish, repair, soothe and protect even the driest and damaged lips. Exactly what my dry lips needed!!
It is different to any other lip balm I have tried, in the sense that it is not necessarily greasy or slippery on your lips, it is in fact a matte texture and takes a little getting used to.

You can use this as often as needed, but my preferred way to use it is at night. I apply a thick layer overnight to allow it to work its intense repair magic. I have to admit, I don't feel the need to re-apply this as much as I would my usual  lip balms. Its matte texture also makes it …

Tips for Self Tanning

Don’t you just hate when you think you have done a lovely job with your tan only to wake up with orange hands and streaky legs! Hopefully these tips will help you become that bronzed goddess you've always dreamed about being!
Things to consider... a) Choose a self tanner that suits your needs. There are so many self tanning products out there, it can be difficult to choose one that will work for you. Some formulas allow you to build a tan gradually over the course of a few days or a week, while others immediately stain your skin. Some are long-lasting, while others wear off over the course of a few days or wash off at the end of the day. Figure out which product is best for what you want.

Some options are: Gradual self-tanning formulas. These come in the form of creams, gels, sprays or mousse. One application will darken the skin by just a shade or so, but you can keep applying the product over the course of several days to achieve the colour you want.  eg. Dove Summer Glow, Cocoa Brown,…
